Math Tuition Singapore Lesson 10

LESSON 10 SYNOPSIS (17 February – 23 February 2025)

16 February 2025

At Matrix Math, we provide an engaging and detailed learning experience for your child. Matrix Math Tuition programme focuses on essential concepts that will further strengthen their mathematical foundation. The lesson synopsis gives parents a clear preview of the topics and problem-solving skills that will be covered in class. At Matrix Math, we ensure that each lesson is designed to build confidence and mastery in math, preparing students for success in both school and beyond.

Primary 1 Lesson 10

This week, we will continue to revise the concepts taught in previous lessons. The focus will be on problem sums involving the following areas.

  • Number Bonds
  • Problem Sums involving More than/Less than
  • Problem Sums involving Part and Whole Concept
  • Missing Numbers
  • Number Pattern

Primary 2 Lesson 10

This week, we will continue to revise the concepts taught in previous lessons. The focus will be on multiplication and division problem sums involving the following areas.

  • 4 operations
  • “Shared with”
  • Finding the number of groups
  • Indirect applications that require more than 3 steps solution.

Primary 3 Lesson 10

This week, we will continue to revise the concepts taught in previous lessons. The concepts we will cover are as follows:

  • 4 Operations
  • Problem sums involving multiplications and divisions
  • Problem sums involving working backwards
  • Grouping (consider/ignore remainder)
  • How to use differences to solve problem sums

Primary 4 Lesson 10

This week, we will focus on one of the most commonly tested problem sum concepts: Shortage and Surplus. Students will learn to identify such questions and apply efficient methods to solve them. We will cover two primary techniques:

Listing Method: This approach involves enumerating possible scenarios to systematically determine the solution.

Model Method: This technique uses bar models to illustrate the relationships between quantities.

Primary 5 Lesson 10

In this week’s lesson, we will delve into External Proportion Transfer, a higher-order concept in fractions. Students will learn four distinct ways this concept is tested in Primary 5 examinations and acquire effective methods and modeling techniques to solve these complex problems.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding External Proportion Transfer
  • Exploring Four Testing Variations
  • Applying Effective Solution Methods

Given the complexity of these questions, they are considered higher-order and require a solid grasp of fraction fundamentals.

Primary 6 Lesson 10

This week, we’ll finish our lessons on FDRP. We’ll be focusing specifically on percentages, and these are the types of percentage problems your child will see on tests in Primary 6: discounts, GST, and how things change when there’s a percentage increase or decrease.

This worksheet has examples of these types of problems, and it’s important for your child to keep it for future revision.
