LESSON 38 SYNOPSIS (1 September – 7 September 2025)

31 August 2025

At Matrix Math, we provide an engaging and detailed learning experience for your child. Matrix Math Tuition programme focuses on essential concepts that will further strengthen their mathematical foundation. The lesson synopsis gives parents a clear preview of the topics and problem-solving skills that will be covered in class. At Matrix Math, we ensure that each lesson is designed to build confidence and mastery in math, preparing students for success in both school and beyond.

Primary 1 Lesson 38

This week, we will explore the topic of “Division 1”. This topic encompasses two main concepts: finding the number in each group and the number of groups.

Students will develop a solid understanding of division through interactive activities and problem-solving exercises. They will learn how to distribute objects equally into groups and determine the quantity in each group. They will also discover how to allocate a given number of objects into equal-sized groups, finding the total number of groups formed.

Primary 2 Lesson 38

In Lesson 38, we will expose the students to higher-order Volume problem sums centred around the comprehensive “Total Concept”. This advanced problem-solving approach enhances their analytical thinking and application of volume-related principles.

During the initial segment of the lesson, we incorporated graphic aids to facilitate a smoother understanding of the questions. This deliberate measure aims to make the questions more approachable and empowers the students to tackle them more confidently.

Primary 3 Lesson 38

We will continue with “Area and Perimeter 2”.

We will delve into the following essential concepts:

  • Finding Area and Perimeter using the “Cut and Paste” Method.
  • Finding Area and Perimeter using the “Figure Segmentation” Method.
  • Finding Area and Perimeter by Comparing Length and Breadth.
  • Finding Area and Perimeter by Comparing Units.

This lesson is designed to enhance students’ higher-order problem-solving capabilities in area and perimeter.

Primary 4 Lesson 38

In Lesson 38, we will begin a new topic: Area and Perimeter. Students will be introduced to both the basics and applications of these concepts through a variety of problem types.

The lesson will cover:

  • Applying the formulas for the area and perimeter of rectangles and squares.
  • Finding the area of composite figures using grids.
  • Calculating the perimeter of composite figures without grids.
  • Using the cut-and-paste method to determine the perimeter of composite figures.

This lesson will help students build a strong foundation in handling both simple and composite shapes with confidence.

Primary 5 Lesson 38

We will begin a new Topic, “Geometry”.

This lesson will delve into the intricacies of finding basic angles, laying the foundation for geometric comprehension. The topics to be covered include:

  • Angles at a Point
  • Angles on a Straight Line
  • Vertically Opposite Angles
  • Angles Properties in a Triangle
  • Equilateral Triangles Properties
  • Isosceles Triangles Properties
  • Rhombus Properties
  • Parallelogram Properties

This foundational understanding of these concepts lays the groundwork for students’ progression into more advanced and intricate geometric concepts.

Primary 6 Lesson 38

This week, we will continue with PSLE Revision Lesson 12.

This lesson will involve a systematic review and practice of essential topics, concepts, and problem-solving methods commonly tested in the PSLE. We aim to strengthen students’ understanding, problem-solving abilities, and confidence as they prepare for the upcoming examination.

Active participation and completing the assigned additional practice exercises are crucial for effective revision. These exercises are designed to align with the PSLE requirements, providing students with valuable exposure to the types of questions they may encounter and opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills effectively.
