In Lesson 8, students will learn to solve before-and-after word problems involving numbers up to 10, focusing on understanding how quantities change over time.
Introduce the Before – Change – After structure to help students organise information clearly
Practise working forward to find the final number after something is added or taken away
Practise working backward to find the starting number when the ending number is given
Learn to identify and solve for the unknown part (before, change, or after)
Reinforce choosing the correct operation (+ or −) based on the situation, not keywords

Lesson 8 marks the first lesson in a series of 5 lessons designed to train students to tackle higher-order problem sums involving a mix of Fractions, Decimals, Ratios, and Percentages (FDRP). This series will focus on helping students manage complex information systematically and apply the correct strategies under exam conditions.
