PAST WEBINARS

Percentage

Webinar Recording (15 October 2024):

Suitable Levels: P5

Percentage is introduced in Primary 5 and forms the foundation for more advanced topics in Primary 6. Mastering this concept early is crucial as it integrates with other topics like fractions, decimals, and ratio. A solid understanding of percentage will empower your child to tackle more complex problems with confidence. Join our upcoming webinar to explore the basics of percentage and how it is applied to Percentage questions involving discount, GST and interest.

Grouping Concept

Webinar Recording (26 July 2024):

Suitable Levels: P4, P5

Grouping concepts have been introduced since lower Primary. From P4 onwards, Grouping Concept appears in more complex sums and it is crucial to have a good grasp of this concept and a good understanding of how this can be applied. This helps to build a strong foundation so that students will be more equipped to tackle even more challenging questions when they advance to P6.

Supposition Method

Webinar Recording (8 June 2024):

Suitable Levels: P4, P5

The Supposition Method (a.k.a. Assumption Method) is an effective and efficient method in place of the guess-and-check method. Instead of spending time trying to ‘guess’ the correct answer, this method helps students to get to the final answer with speed and accuracy. While most students may not immediately internalise this method on first introduction, but once understood, it proves to be an effective tool to solve such questions, saving crucial time to focus on other questions in the exams.

Shortage and Surplus

Webinar Recording (30 March 2024):

Suitable Levels: P4, P5

Shortage and surplus problems are first introduced to students in Primary 4. These problems are commonly used to test students’ ability to apply the concepts of factors and multiples. More complex shortage and surplus problems often involve using scenario model drawings. These problems will continue to be tested in Primary 5 and 6. Therefore, building a strong understanding of the concepts and the various ways these questions can be tested and resolved will give students a significant advantage.
