Primary 1 Lesson 21

This lesson builds foundation in Picture Graphs, training students to read and interpret data presented in visual formats. Students work through structured problem sets requiring extraction, comparison, and totalling of information from graphs.

  • Learn to read picture graphs accurately and identify the quantity each symbol represents
  • Apply comparison to solve “more than” and “fewer than” problems between categories
  • Practise finding totals by combining values across multiple data sets
  • Strengthen reasoning with conditional questions that introduce new values mid-problem (e.g. receiving additional items)
  • Consolidate data interpretation across varied real-world contexts including food, vehicles, and stationery

Primary 2 Lesson 21

Select 4 is a revision lesson consolidating key P2 topics across four operations, measurement, and word problems. Students practise selecting and applying strategies across mixed problem types.

  • Reinforce place value reasoning with hundreds, tens, and ones in non-standard forms
  • Apply multiplication and division relationships, connecting grouping, repeated addition, and equations
  • Practise measurement problems involving length, mass, and unit selection
  • Strengthen comparison and difference thinking through one- and two-step word problems
  • Consolidate equal sharing and doubling strategies in multi-step contexts

Primary 3 Lesson 21

Select 5 is a revision lesson training students to solve challenging multi-step word problems across four operations. Students work through problems that demand strategic thinking rather than routine computation.

  • Reinforce place value and division with remainder as foundational number skills
  • Apply comparison and multiplication relationships to find total quantities across categories
  • Practise equal sharing and redistribution reasoning where quantities shift between groups
  • Strengthen ratio and grouping thinking to solve problems involving fixed proportions
  • Consolidate working backwards strategies to find original quantities from end states
  • Apply cost optimisation thinking to determine best-value purchasing decisions

Primary 4 Lesson 21

This lesson builds foundation in Geometry 2, training students to find unknown angles and apply properties of squares and rectangles across varied geometric contexts.

  • Learn to find unknown angles using right angles and angles on a straight line
  • Apply properties of squares and rectangles to deduce angles within composite figures
  • Practise drawing squares and rectangles on a square grid from given vertices
  • Strengthen comparison of units thinking to find angles expressed as multiples of each other
  • Consolidate angle construction using a protractor to mark specified angles accurately
  • Reinforce evaluation of geometric statements as true, false, or not possible to tell

Primary 5 Lesson 21

Select 5 is a revision lesson consolidating P5 topics across whole numbers, fractions, area, and volume. Students tackle high-difficulty multi-step problems requiring integration of multiple concepts within a single question.

  • Reinforce whole number reasoning through complex rate, grouping, and multi-step computation problems
  • Apply grouping with remainder strategies to optimise purchasing under budget constraints
  • Strengthen external transfer thinking to equalise quantities using fractions as intermediate steps
  • Practise area of triangles within composite figures, including overlapping and shaded-region problems
  • Consolidate volume reasoning across tanks, cube-building, and maximum-cut problems
  • Apply 3D spatial reasoning to interpret front and side views and count painted faces
