LESSON 29 SYNOPSIS (6 July – 12 July 2026)

05 July 2026

At Matrix Math, we provide an engaging and detailed learning experience for your child. Matrix Math Tuition programme focuses on essential concepts that will further strengthen their mathematical foundation. The lesson synopsis gives parents a clear preview of the topics and problem-solving skills that will be covered in class. At Matrix Math, we ensure that each lesson is designed to build confidence and mastery in math, preparing students for success in both school and beyond.

Primary 1 Lesson 29

This lesson strengthens Numbers to 100 L3, focusing on comparison-of-quantity problems where students must work out an unknown quantity using given differences.

  • Learn to find the bigger group when the smaller quantity and the difference are known
  • Learn to find the smaller group when the bigger quantity and the difference are known
  • Practise finding the difference directly between two given quantities
  • Apply reasoning to decide whether to add or subtract based on question wording
  • Strengthen accuracy by selecting the correct question among distractor options
  • Reinforce checking skills through a spot the mistake activity involving flawed working
  • Consolidate all three comparison types through a mixed assessment

Primary 2 Lesson 29

This lesson revises Money 4, consolidating money concepts through converting between dollars and cents and solving multi-step word problems involving cost, change, and value.

  • Practise conversion between dollars and cents in various formats
  • Apply part-whole reasoning to find combinations of values matching a target sum
  • Strengthen finding change through repeated part-whole applications
  • Learn to find total cost indirectly by first working out an unknown unit value
  • Practise the total concept through repeated multiplication-based application
  • Apply regrouping once and twice to solve total-cost problems without remainder
  • Reinforce grouping to find how many items can be bought, ignoring remainder

Primary 3 Lesson 29

This lesson builds foundation in Measurement 2, introducing interval-based reasoning alongside continued work on unit conversion problems.

  • Apply the total concept by working backward from grouped units to unit value, then multiplying to find a final amount
  • Learn interval reasoning by finding the distance between two positions when spacing is known
  • Practise direct work forward, calculating distances directly from a given interval
  • Introduce work backward thinking, deducing the number of objects from total length and interval
  • Strengthen repeat application, scaling a known interval up to a larger position
  • Consolidate reasoning between “number of gaps” versus “number of objects” in interval problems
  • Reinforce multi-step thinking by combining measurement and money contexts in one problem

Primary 4 Lesson 29

This lesson builds foundation in Decimals 2, applying decimal computation to multi-step word problems that combine cost, measurement, and money contexts.

  • Apply the part-whole concept to find change after multiple purchases involving decimal prices
  • Practise indirect repeat application, working out an unknown unit cost after subtracting a known part
  • Strengthen interval reasoning by scaling a known decimal distance to a different span
  • Introduce the supposition method, assuming one coin or note type to solve for the other
  • Reinforce checking answers logically when supposition totals don’t match the given sum
  • Consolidate decimal subtraction and multiplication across varied real-life contexts
  • Apply place value understanding to identify the value of specific decimal digits

Primary 5 Lesson 29

This lesson builds foundation in Percentage 1, introducing percentage as a way of expressing part of a whole and applying it across measurement, money, and data contexts.

  • Learn conversion between fractions, decimals and percentages using multiple methods
  • Apply percentage reasoning to express one quantity as a percentage of a whole
  • Practise finding a percentage of a quantity across combined groups
  • Strengthen the unitary method to work backward from a percentage to an unknown total
  • Introduce reasoning with pie charts, linking percentage, fraction and actual values
  • Consolidate multi-step problems combining percentage of remainder with given totals

Primary 6 Lesson 29

This lesson revises PSLE Revision 1, bringing together challenging problem types across number, geometry, and ratio in preparation for the exam.

  • Reinforce decimal place value and percentage conversion under exam conditions
  • Apply area and perimeter reasoning to composite figures involving semicircles
  • Strengthen construction and area-transformation skills using square grids
  • Consolidate before-after and excess-and-deficit reasoning in multi-step word problems
  • Apply algebraic representation to solve problems involving unknowns and cost differences
  • Reinforce percentage change reasoning across ratio and quantity transfer situations
  • Strengthen structured working under time pressure through varied, unfamiliar question formats
