Primary 1 Lesson 33

This is a revision lesson under Select 7, consolidating the range of whole-number skills students have built this term. Pupils revisit number relationships, careful counting, and one- and two-step word problems, tightening the reasoning they will lean on in every future topic.

  • Reinforce number bonds and fact families, seeing how a total splits into parts and how each addition links to its matching subtraction
  • Strengthen position and ordering by reading “from the left” and “from the right” precisely
  • Practise systematic counting of figures to compare quantity and find the difference
  • Consolidate accurate addition and subtraction within 100, including missing-digit reasoning
  • Apply part-whole thinking to find a remaining group from a known total
  • Reinforce comparison and before–after reasoning to work backwards to an original amount

Primary 2 Lesson 33

This is a revision lesson under Select 9, pulling together the money, fraction, pattern and time skills built this term. Pupils move from single-step questions into layered word problems, deciding which operation each situation calls for.

  • Consolidate money work, counting mixed coin values and converting between cents and dollars
  • Strengthen comparing and ordering fractions in both ascending and descending order
  • Apply fraction of a whole and fraction of a set to shading and sharing situations
  • Reinforce unit cost reasoning, finding the value of one before scaling up to many
  • Practise multi-step money problems that combine buying, change and totals
  • Introduce simple number patterns and time, reading clocks and finding duration

Primary 3 Lesson 33

This lesson builds on Measurement 6, applying bar-model reasoning to multi-step problems set in volume, mass and length. Students work through four named methods that each demand careful tracking of units and difference before any calculation begins.

  • Apply work backwards thinking, using a known final total to recover the value of one unit
  • Practise equal transfer and find-change reasoning, splitting a remainder across equal groups
  • Reinforce transferring difference, tracking how a one-way transfer widens the gap between two quantities
  • Strengthen before–after modelling, mapping a starting position against an ending one on a bar model
  • Consolidate handling of mixed measurement units, converting between litres, kilograms, grams and centimetres
  • Introduce equalising problems, moving units from the larger group so two shares become equal

Primary 4 Lesson 33

This lesson integrates two topics under Pie Charts & Patterns, moving between reading data and spotting rules in sequences. Students interpret part-whole relationships in a chart, then switch to tracking how a pattern grows or repeats.

  • Apply part-whole thinking to read a pie chart, finding a missing quantity from a known total
  • Practise expressing chart categories as fractions in simplest form and comparing them
  • Strengthen multi-step reading, combining categories to find sums and differences
  • Reinforce number sequence work, including patterns driven by two interleaved rules
  • Introduce the grouping concept, using remainders to locate a term far along a repeating cycle
  • Apply the interval concept to figure patterns, linking a figure’s position to its count

Primary 5 Lesson 33

This lesson builds on Geometry 2, working through four structured methods for finding angles and constructing figures accurately. Students reason from the properties of triangles, squares, parallelograms and rhombuses rather than measuring, justifying each angle before stating it.

  • Apply angle sum properties to find the combined value of several unknown angles in one figure
  • Practise proportion reasoning, splitting a known angle into parts in a given ratio
  • Strengthen finding unknown angles by chaining triangle, straight-line and shape properties step by step
  • Reinforce reasoning about isosceles and equilateral triangles through true, false and “not possible to tell” judgements
  • Apply geometrical drawing on a square grid, constructing a rhombus, trapezium and parallelogram to exact conditions
  • Consolidate use of parallel and equal-length conditions when completing an accurate figure

Primary 6 Lesson 33

This is a revision lesson under PSLE Revision 5, a mixed set of exam-style problems that pull together the full P6 toolkit. Students must first identify which method each unfamiliar question calls for, then work it through cleanly under exam conditions.

  • Apply rate and grouping reasoning to buying-and-dividing problems with equal shares
  • Strengthen work on overlapping figures, tracking length, area and repeated units in a growing arrangement
  • Reinforce circle and composite-area methods for finding shaded regions
  • Practise the average relationship, adjusting a total when a value is added or removed
  • Apply the supposition method and percentage change to compare two unknown groups
  • Consolidate before–after and equal-quantity reasoning across ratio and money contexts
