Primary Math Tuition Lesson Synopsis Lesson 34

LESSON 34 SYNOPSIS (10 August – 16 August 2026)

10 August 2026

At Matrix Math, we provide an engaging and detailed learning experience for your child. Matrix Math Tuition programme focuses on essential concepts that will further strengthen their mathematical foundation. The lesson synopsis gives parents a clear preview of the topics and problem-solving skills that will be covered in class. At Matrix Math, we ensure that each lesson is designed to build confidence and mastery in math, preparing students for success in both school and beyond.

Primary 1 Lesson 34

This lesson builds foundation in Length 1, where students learn to measure and compare lengths in centimetres and draw line segments accurately using a ruler. It introduces the centimetre as a formal unit of length and trains the careful, rule-following habits measurement demands.

  • Learn to read a ruler correctly by starting every measurement from the zero mark
  • Apply the centimetre (cm) as a standard unit to measure lines and everyday objects
  • Practise reading measurements precisely, avoiding the common error of starting from the wrong point
  • Strengthen comparison by finding how much longer or shorter one object is than another
  • Introduce drawing line segments of a given length using controlled ruler technique
  • Reinforce accuracy and neatness as core measurement habits

Primary 2 Lesson 34

Select 10 is a revision lesson consolidating a wide mix of Primary 2 skills, where students revisit money, fractions, the four operations, and multi-step word problems. It trains students to recognise which method a question demands and to work through problems with a fixed order and a clear plan.

  • Reinforce fraction of a figure and fraction of a set by identifying equal parts and shaded portions
  • Consolidate money skills, converting between coin values and finding a missing part in a total
  • Strengthen multiplication and division reasoning through cost and grouping word problems
  • Practise multi-step problems using part-whole and comparison relationships to find totals and differences
  • Apply column-subtraction reasoning to fill in missing digits
  • Reinforce reading number patterns to work out the rule and the missing term

Primary 3 Lesson 34

Select 8 is a revision lesson consolidating Primary 3 measurement and division skills, where students revisit converting between units of length, mass, and volume and solve multi-step word problems built on those measures. It trains careful unit handling and the discipline of reading multi-line problems before choosing a method.

  • Reinforce unit conversion between metres and centimetres, kilograms and grams, litres and millilitres
  • Consolidate division with remainders, including finding an unknown number from its quotient and remainder
  • Apply addition and subtraction of measurements to find totals and missing parts in length and mass problems
  • Practise multi-step reasoning, working backwards from a known total to an unknown distance
  • Strengthen equal grouping to share a quantity evenly and find the value of one unit
  • Reinforce expressing final answers in the correct mixed units (km and m)

Primary 4 Lesson 34

Select 9 is a revision lesson consolidating the harder end of Primary 4, where students revisit bar model word problems, decimals, fractions, angles, and reasoning puzzles. It trains students to read layered, multi-step problems carefully and choose a structured method rather than guessing.

  • Reinforce before-and-after bar models to track quantities that change through transfers between two parties
  • Consolidate ordering and comparing decimals by place value in ascending and descending order
  • Apply rate and unit-cost reasoning to problems involving equal purchases and price differences
  • Strengthen angle properties of rectangles and squares to find unknown angles
  • Practise gaps-and-intervals reasoning for problems on cuts, knots, and spacing
  • Reinforce factors and multiples to find the smallest number divisible by several values

Primary 5 Lesson 35

Select 10 is a revision lesson pulling together the demanding topics of Primary 5, where students revisit area of composite figures, rate, volume, percentage, GST, pie charts, and number patterns. It trains students to identify the underlying structure of each problem and choose an efficient method under mixed conditions.

  • Reinforce area reasoning on composite figures, working from known parts to shaded regions
  • Apply rate and comparison to problems where one quantity is expressed in terms of another
  • Consolidate percentage and GST calculations across repeated purchases
  • Strengthen reading of pie charts to find fractions and work back to a total from given parts
  • Practise rate of flow problems, reading a graph to find how fast water enters and leaves a tank
  • Reinforce spotting a number pattern to predict later figures without listing every step

Primary 6 Lesson 34

PSLE Revision 6 is a revision lesson set under full PSLE conditions, where students work through a mixed paper spanning ratio, area, geometry, averages, and rate. It trains students to switch methods quickly across unrelated topics and to handle the multi-step, high-mark questions that decide PSLE scores.

  • Reinforce ratio reasoning across shelves, sections, and changing quantities to a simplest-form answer
  • Apply area relationships between squares, rectangles, and triangles on a grid
  • Strengthen angle properties of squares and right-angled triangles to find unknown angles
  • Practise the average concept, working backwards to a minimum required score
  • Consolidate rate and grouping in recipe and buttons-and-beads problems
  • Reinforce volume and measurement reasoning from given dimensions
