Primary 1 Lesson 36

This lesson builds foundation in Multiplication L1, where students move from counting one by one to seeing objects arranged in equal groups. Problems progress from pictures to written multiplication sentences.

Learn to read a picture as a number of equal groups and the amount in each group
Apply repeated addition to find the total without counting individually
Practise expressing groupings as “3 sixes” before formal notation appears
Introduce the multiplication sentence and link it to the number of groups and group size
Strengthen understanding by drawing to represent a given multiplication expression
Consolidate by matching equivalent expressions that describe the same total

Primary 2 Lesson 36

This is a revision lesson under Select 12, covering mixed word problems from money, measurement, time, fractions and the four operations. Students learn to identify which relationship each question tests before choosing a method.

Reinforce comparison of amounts and lengths, including ordering and difference
Apply equal grouping to divide totals into bags, boxes and shares
Practise part-whole reasoning to find a missing part from a known total
Strengthen equal sharing thinking when transferring items so two people hold the same amount
Consolidate fraction of a whole by counting equal pieces against total pieces
Practise working backwards in time and across multi-step questions

Primary 3 Lesson 36

This is a revision lesson under Select 10, revisiting measurement word problems in mass, length and volume alongside parallel and perpendicular lines. Students practise deciding which structure each question follows before calculating.

Reinforce unit comparison when one quantity is a multiple of another
Apply part-whole and difference reasoning to split a known total between two people
Strengthen before-and-after thinking when a quantity is transferred between two containers
Practise equal elimination to compare two sets of cups and bottles and isolate one item
Apply interval reasoning to count objects placed at equal distances along a path
Consolidate recognition of parallel lines, perpendicular lines and right angles

Primary 4 Lesson 36

This is a revision lesson under Select 11, mixing decimals, number patterns, geometry and multi-step word problems. Students practise recognising the structure behind each question before choosing a method.

Reinforce unit comparison where one quantity is a multiple of another, including decimal differences
Apply before-and-after reasoning when money is transferred and the comparison changes
Practise the supposition method on scoring and shortfall questions with penalties
Apply interval reasoning to spacing between numbered lamp posts
Strengthen pattern reasoning by extending figure sequences and locating a repeating term
Consolidate rounding, angle properties in squares and table interpretation

Primary 5 Lesson 33

This lesson builds foundation in Geometry 2, where students work with composite figures made up of triangles, squares, parallelograms and rhombuses. Problems build from finding combined angles to constructing figures on a grid.

Learn to find the sum of angles in a figure without solving each angle separately
Apply angle properties of triangles, squares and parallelograms to unknown angles
Practise proportional reasoning when angles are described as multiples of one another
Strengthen step-by-step tracing of angles on a straight line through linked figures
Reinforce judgement in True / False / Not possible statements about angle relationships
Consolidate geometrical drawing of rhombuses, trapeziums and parallelograms on a grid

Primary 6 Lesson 36

This is a revision lesson under PSLE Revision 8, working through examination-standard problems in geometry, ratio, measurement and unit comparison. Students practise identifying the underlying structure before committing to a method.

Reinforce equal units when one total is split into different numbers of equal packets
Apply equal elimination to two-item pricing questions involving pens, files and drinks
Practise unit comparison where equal quantities differ in price by a known amount
Strengthen constant difference reasoning in age problems
Apply ratio of areas to find an unknown side within a square
Consolidate volume of layered cubes and angle properties in identical isosceles triangles
