Primary Math Tuition Lesson Synopsis Lesson 41

LESSON 41 SYNOPSIS (28 September – 4 October 2026)

29 September 2026

At Matrix Math, we provide an engaging and detailed learning experience for your child. Matrix Math Tuition programme focuses on essential concepts that will further strengthen their mathematical foundation. The lesson synopsis gives parents a clear preview of the topics and problem-solving skills that will be covered in class. At Matrix Math, we ensure that each lesson is designed to build confidence and mastery in math, preparing students for success in both school and beyond.

Primary 1 Lesson 41

This lesson builds foundation in Money, introducing Primary 1 students to Singapore coins, notes and their values. Students learn to count, exchange and calculate amounts in cents and dollars.

  • Learn to link each coin and note to its value, anchored on $1 = 100 cents
  • Practise counting mixed coins and notes to find a total
  • Apply equivalence to choose coins or notes that make up a given amount
  • Strengthen exchanging money, seeing several smaller coins as one larger coin or note
  • Apply addition and subtraction to find total cost, change and money left
  • Introduce working backwards to find the amount at first

Primary 2 Lesson 41

This lesson builds foundation in Graphs, focusing on picture graphs where each symbol stands for more than one item. Students learn to read, compare and reason with graph data.

  • Learn to read a picture graph using its scale
  • Practise finding totals across categories
  • Apply comparison to find how many more or fewer
  • Strengthen multiplicative comparison using “times as many”
  • Apply multiplication to convert graph data into money
  • Reinforce adjusting symbols when quantities change
  • Introduce equalising, finding how much one child gives so both have the same

Primary 3 Lesson 41

Select 11 is a revision lesson that integrates topics from across the Primary 3 syllabus, including area and perimeter, time, fractions, graphs, money and whole-number word problems. Students practise identifying which method each question calls for.

  • Consolidate area and perimeter of composite figures
  • Apply working backwards to find amounts at first
  • Strengthen comparison reasoning, linking quantities through differences and a known value
  • Practise guess and check with two types of notes or coins
  • Apply before-after reasoning with units when one quantity changes
  • Reinforce time intervals and fraction of a set
  • Consolidate multi-step reasoning with graphs and large numbers

Primary 4 Lesson 41

This lesson builds foundation in Nets & Symmetry, developing spatial reasoning with 3D solids and 2D figures. Students learn to visualise how flat shapes fold into solids and how figures reflect across a line.

  • Learn to identify solids by their faces, edges and curved surfaces
  • Apply knowledge of face shapes to match each net to its solid
  • Practise mentally folding a net to locate opposite faces
  • Introduce drawing solids on an isometric grid, showing only visible parts
  • Strengthen understanding of a line of symmetry and why not every fold line qualifies
  • Apply symmetry to complete figures on a square grid

Primary 5 Lesson 41

Select 14 is a revision lesson integrating key Primary 5 topics, including decimals, area, volume, rates, percentage and angles. Students work through multi-step problems that combine several concepts in one question.

  • Consolidate equal units reasoning with “times as much” and a fixed difference in quantity
  • Apply decimals in multi-step mass problems with a limit condition
  • Strengthen area reasoning using identical shapes and fractions of a figure
  • Apply volume and 3D visualisation to solids and water-level changes
  • Practise tiered rate charges involving time intervals
  • Reinforce percentage and before-after comparison with ratio
  • Consolidate angle properties of triangles, including folded figures

Primary 6 Lesson 39

Lesson 39 is the last lesson for Primary 6 for the 2026 academic year.
