Lessons for the week of 19 to 25 October 2026

End-of-year maths revision for P1 to P5

Here’s what your child will work on at Matrix Math® this week, level by level. Most P3 to P5 pupils sit their school end-of-year exams around now, so every lesson this week is a revision set covering the year’s key topics.

P6 and Secondary: no classes until the week of 23 November 2026.

Primary 1 maths: end-of-year revision

Topic: End-of-year revision (Select 10) – a mixed set of word problems that pulls together what your child has learnt this year.

  • Solve subtraction stories by first spotting what is being found: a change, a part or a difference (e.g. how many more ice-cream sticks Yenni still needs)
  • Count money in cents using coins, then work out the change left after buying a 75-cent pencil
  • Build early multiplication and division through equal groups, such as sharing 18 oranges equally into 3 baskets
  • Use multiplication in two steps, e.g. finding the total number of legs on 3 ducks and 4 cows
  • Put daily activities in order, from earliest to latest, using time words like o’clock, half past, am and pm
  • Fill in a picture graph by studying a picture

Primary 2 maths: end-of-year revision

Topic: End-of-year revision (Select 14) – a mixed set of problem sums that brings together the year’s key P2 topics.

  • Read and complete picture graphs and answer questions on them
  • Work out how long an activity lasts and when the next one starts using time tables
  • Solve “how many for how many” problems, e.g. 5 apples cost $6, so how much do 20 cost
  • Draw models with units for “three times as much” and “twice as much” problems
  • Find the mass of an empty box from the total mass
  • Try the “suppose all are” method on a goats-and-birds legs puzzle
  • Name simple fractions of a whole, such as what is left of a cake cut into 8 pieces
  • Solve before-and-after problems where two people end up with equal amounts

Primary 3 maths: end-of-year exam revision

Topic: End-of-year exam revision (Select 14) – a mixed set of problem sums covering the main P3 topics.

  • Use area and perimeter of rectangles and squares, including fencing a field and running round it
  • Add and multiply time in hours and minutes, and find finishing times
  • Spot perpendicular lines in a figure
  • Express fractions in their simplest form
  • Continue number patterns and solve interval problems, like trees planted along a road
  • Draw models for “more than”, “same increase” and “thrice as many” problems
  • Group notes and coins to find how many there are, e.g. equal numbers of $2 and $5 notes
  • Use division with remainder to find the greatest number of full bags
  • Convert km to m and L to ml, and work backwards to find the amount at first

Primary 4 maths: end-of-year exam revision

Topic: End-of-year exam revision (Select 15) – exam-style questions across P4 topics.

  • Compare and order fractions and decimals by rewriting decimals to the same number of places
  • Divide decimals and give answers to 2 decimal places, and identify place value (tenths)
  • Use the “suppose all are correct” method on a quiz-scoring problem
  • Use common multiples to find when two friends next meet at the gym
  • Find the area and perimeter of composite figures, including the area of a path around a court
  • Solve before-and-after problems where two packets start with the same amount of sugar
  • Work out finishing times and read a line graph
  • Construct angles with a protractor and find unknown angles in folded paper
  • Continue patterns to find a figure far down the sequence

Primary 5 maths: end-of-year exam revision

Topic: End-of-year exam revision (Select 17) – challenging problem sums across the P5 syllabus.

  • Solve percentage problems involving discounts and 9% GST, and compare two shops’ sale offers
  • Work with rate and unit price, e.g. cost per 100 g of grapes or cans made per minute
  • Use grouping and substitution methods, e.g. 3 apples cost as much as 5 kiwis
  • Find areas of composite figures made of squares, rectangles and triangles
  • Solve volume problems on tanks, containers and unit cubes, including converting between L and cm³
  • Find unknown angles in trapeziums, parallelograms, rhombuses and special triangles
  • Complete a parallelogram drawing on a square grid
  • Work out the earliest start time from a bicycle rental charges table
  • Find the rule in patterns to predict later figures

P6 and Secondary

There are no P6 or Secondary classes until the week of 23 November 2026.

The Matrix Method behind every lesson

Every Matrix Math® lesson is built on the Matrix Method, which we have refined since 2008. It sorts maths into clear compartments of topics, concepts and methods, so your child learns to recognise the type of problem in front of them and choose the right method to solve it.

That is exactly what revision week is for. By working through many problem types in one sitting, your child practises spotting which method fits, just as they will need to in a school exam.
